Hi! My name is Adele. This summer I found joy in painting and making digital art. I haven’t felt pulled to create like that in a while so it was nice to reconnect with it!

I use AI inn my daily life through things like algorithms in social media, especially things like instagram and Pinterest. I guess that applies to how I use it in my digital design courses too. Ive also used chat a few times to help me edit paragraphs for creative briefs.

I learned a lot from the reading, and enjoyed the first two chapters of the book. At first I was super hesitant about this class, but the reading helped me rationalize my thoughts around everything. I really appreciated the parts about media hype, and how it can contribute to the fear and misunderstanding around the software. It was easy for me to write all of AI as bad, but the book’s emphasis on how people need to have a better, more nuanced understanding of the tech to actually make a change / use it for good.

I was surprised about the backend programming for generative ai. It was cool to see the code broken down in a way that was easy to digest to truly understand how AI is able to interact with us.

I am able to create art ‘better’ than AI, in the sense that I have the capability to convey complex human experiences or emotions with analog mediums. Ai is able to create art, but only from taking previous work or data to make an image that could look artistic, but lacks emotional depth.
